School Day of Non-violence and Peace with Malala Yousafzai

On January 30th we celebrate the School Day of Non-violence and Peace). In 4 ESO at IES Sierra Morena we have been talking about themes of non-violence and peace advocates, like Malala Yousafzai.

The students know a lot about Malala, and we started with a brainstorm activity where students shared everything they already knew about her. After this activity, we watched a video in Edpuzzle that summed up her life story.

After completing the questions in the video, the class added the new information and details they had learned to the board.

Next, we drew a VennDiagram to compare ourselves to Malala. Every student created their own diagram and shared things in common with her such as speaking English, number of siblings, hair color. Their differences were often their country of residence, awards they have received or even not wanting to go to school...
