In Art class, our 1 ESO students were able to learn the difference between origami and kirigami, two traditional Japanese art forms which are famous all over the world. Origami consists of folding paper and nothing else – no cutting, gluing or marking, whereas Kirigami involves folding and cutting, but glue is allowed too.
Our Art teacher, Rocio and our language assistant, Sara, shared a presentation with students which included information on how to create volume making origami figures and pop up cards, examples and videos of both art forms and some vocabulary related to this art. Students were able to see how to fold paper in order to make a butterfly and an origami dog, and then they were finally able to create their own origami or kirigami. Here you have some pictures of their outstanding art work.
